FieldWatch Welcomes New Jersey As Its 24th State Member

Web-bassed mapping tool for beekeepers and pesticide applicators

West Lafayette, IN (September 13, 2022) – FieldWatch, Inc., a non-profit company that promotes communication and stewardship among crop producers, beekeepers, and pesticide applicators, announces that New Jersey has joined as the 24th member state.

New Jersey joins FieldWatch along with 23 other states, one Canadian province, and the District of Columbia. The membership will enable New Jersey’s beekeepers to use a secure, easy-to-use online registry to identify and map the locations of apiaries which pesticide applicators should avoid. The free and voluntary registry BeeCheck™ will be available to all New Jersey beekeepers. FieldCheck® is the online and mobile portal that pesticide applicators can use to improve decision-making and avoid damage from spray drift to beehives.

“The goal is to get beekeepers registered through FieldWatch so applicators can get accurate information before spraying,” said Curt Hadley, Business Development Manager, FieldWatch. “This model has been proven to build good stewardship and communication in agriculture.”

New Jersey’s membership decision was especially driven by the needs of beekeepers who wanted to register the locations of their apiaries. “Integrating technology with best practices gives our New Jersey beekeepers another tool to secure sustainable agriculture here in the Garden State,” New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Douglas Fisher said. “I am looking forward to this partnership with FieldWatch, Inc.”
