New York (June 2, 2022) - The Atlantic Seed Association Executive Committee would like to announce that Executive Director Carrie Bohrer will be retiring as the ASA Executive Director effective at the end of 2022.

Carrie has been integral in the growth and maintenance of the ASA, enjoying her 20-year tenure as the Association's Executive Director. Along with her responsibilities for Newsom Seed, she replaced the legendary Dr. John Baylor in 2002. Dr. Baylor was a long tenured professor, and directed the ASA prior to Carrie’s appointment. The Dr. Baylor Grant Fund was established during Carrie’s tenure. These funds are used to offer grants to research professionals in the seed industry annually.

Under Carrie Bohrer’s tenure, the ASA has held numerous conventions, knowledge sessions and shared industry information with the trade. Carrie has helped navigate the first ASA scholarship awards program recently, which will be a minimum ten year scholarship program. Carrie has successfully maintained the finances and grant funds, and assisted with duties in convention planning for many past presidents. We as an industry owe her a debt of gratitude for a job that consistently met or exceeded expectations.

Carrie is looking toward her future, having raised two grown women, and is now an empty nester along with her husband Allen. She has recently become more active in a charity near her home. Carrie will enjoy spending more time in her favorite spot at Deep Creek Lake in Maryland.

During this year’s convention in New York City, we will celebrate Carrie Bohrer’s dedication and accomplishments as director. The ASA will review scholarship and grant winners, tour the city, and share in the wonderful knowledge sessions we are planning. The convention dates are October 14 to 18, 2022, at the Westin Grand Central.

As a result, the Executive Committee is committed to finding a replacement. The committee will be diligent pursuing a quality candidate for her replacement. If you or another ASA member/friend you know is interested, please contact President Zenon Lis zenonlis@sbcglobal.net or Vice President Mark Laube mark@oligerseed.com by June 30, 2022.
