The 2022 conference will bring together hundreds of vegetable and flower seed industry professionals from over 25 countries for four days of networking and timely educational sessions on key issues impacting the international seed industry – from supply chain and phytosanitary challenges to the latest breeding innovations.
Sunday’s Opening General Session will take a look at one of the major stories of 2020 and 2021: supply chain issues. The session, featuring major international vegetable seed companies, will discuss the current state of global seed movement, and how the industry is working to meet logistics challenges. Monday’s General Session will feature opening updates from ASTA’s Vegetable & Flower Division, followed by an inside-glimpse into the future of commercial production and retail trends, with speakers from: Local Bounti, Golden Sun Insights, and OnePointOne Inc.
The Trading Room will feature nearly 100 companies and partner organizations, showcasing the latest in innovative products and services, including: packaging, testing, seed conditioning, sorting and more.
ASTA Announces Speakers For 61st Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference, Jan. 28-Feb. 1 in San Diego, CA
San Diego, CA (January 13, 2022) - On January 5, ASTA announced updates to the speaker line-up for its 61st Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference January 28-February 1 in San Diego, CA.
Two general sessions, one on Short-Term and Long-Term Logistics and the other focusing on the Future of Production & Retail, round out a program that also includes sessions on communications, intellectual property rights, phytosanitary concerns, innovation and plant breeding and much more.
The “Women in Seed” luncheon, being held Saturday, January 29, features opening remarks from Maria Fraile Reyes of MAR Seed Company and Dani Kehm of Seed Programs International.
A delegation of students from UC Davis will be attending the conference and a new poster presentation reception has been added to the agenda on Sunday, January 30.
In addition to these sessions, the first general session on short term and long term logistics will feature presentations from Sakata Seeds, American Takii, and Allen Lund Company followed by a panel of seed industry experts. The second general session on the future of production & retail will include perspectives from OnePointOne, Golden Sun Insights and Local Bounti.

ASTA Updates COVID Safety Protocols For Its Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference
On January 5, ASTA announced updated pandemic-related regulations for the Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference held Jan. 28 – Feb. 1 in San Diego, CA.
In accordance with the recent changes to California regulations, all attendees must provide either a proof of full vaccination, proof of negative antigen test within 24-hours or proof of negative PCR test within 48 hours of arrival to the ASTA registration desk in order to pick up a badge.
If attendees are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, a photo ID is required at check-in with proof of vaccination in order to pick up conference badges. At this time, “fully vaccinated” means that you have received the second dose (or one with the Janssen vaccine) at least two weeks prior to arriving.

ASTA Expecting Strong Turnout Despite Pandemic For The 61st Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference
San Diego, CA (December 22, 2021) - ASTA is experiencing significant interest in the upcoming Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference, being held Jan. 28 – Feb. 1 in San Diego, CA.
Despite the pandemic’s effects on conventions all over the country, including ASTA’s CSS & Seed Expo in Chicago which saw 71% of its usual participation, the Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference is showing remarkably even-pacing with pre-pandemic registration counts.
“We’re excited to see registrations so far from 23 countries, and over 100 companies registered in our Trading Room,” says Jennifer Crouse, ASTA Senior Director of Meetings.
