Mickayla Yard

(May 4, 2021) - The Northern Seed Trade Association (NSTA) on Tuesday announced Mickayla Yard as the recipient of the NSTA Local Impact Scholarship.

From NSTA Executive Director Liz Foust:

"On behalf of the Northern Seed Trade Association Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce the selection of the second recipient of the newly established NSTA Local Impact Scholarship. The awardee for the 2021-2022 school year is Mickayla Yard. Below is enclosed a letter from Ms. Yard. Please join me in congratulating her on her selection for this award!"

Yard wrote the following to the NSTA:

"I would like to start by thanking you for the opportunity to apply for the NSTA Local Impact Scholarship Award. I am excited to be this year's recipient and I cannot begin to express my gratitude enough.

"I am a student at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln studying Agriculture and Environmental Science Communication with a minor in Animal Science. My plans after college include building my own livestock operation and finding ways to continue advocating for agriculture.

"As an agricultural communicator one of my goals is to share the importance of crop and livestock operations for the public and the environment. I want to share the stories of farmers and ranchers, but more than that I want to show why it is important to them and how they share a relationship with the land.

"Again, I want to express how thankful I am for the support for the Northern Seed Trade Association. This scholarship will help me continue my education and get one step closer to beginning my journey of agricultural advocacy."
