Alexandria, VA (April 29, 2019) - On Thursday, April 25, the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA) submitted formal comments to USDA’s Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) on programmatic changes the seed industry wishes to see in conservation programs.
The 2018 Farm Bill, which passed in December, requires USDA to update NRCS’s practice standards for conservation programs such as the Conservation Reserve Program, the Conservation Stewardship Program, and the Environmental Quality Incentives Program, among others.
ASTA shared the concerns of the industry regarding seed mix calculations and the high cost of seed mixes recommended for conservation programs. You can read the comments on the ASTA website here.
