Research Triangle Park, NC (March 18, 2019) – Syngenta Ventures announced new leadership for its global team. Corey Huck, head of Biologicals & Syngenta Ventures, now heads up the global Ventures team. Colin Steen, Syngenta Ventures Managing Director, will lead the daily operations of the team. Both are industry and Syngenta veterans.

“We have improved our Syngenta Ventures team alignment with Syngenta’s business priorities and have a more focused approach on scouting and investing in disruptive technologies,” says Huck.

Established in 2009, Syngenta Ventures is the venture capital team of Syngenta, one of the world’s leading agriculture companies and a global producer of crop protection, seeds and digital agriculture solutions. Syngenta Ventures invests in early-stage companies that are innovating in agricultural inputs (e.g., gene editing, breeding technologies and synthetic biology), and new digital technologies (e.g., precision agriculture, farm management systems and aerial imagery).

One of the first venture capital teams dedicated to agriculture, Syngenta Ventures targets crop-related technologies that have a direct benefit to growers. The multi-disciplinary team invests in companies on its own and also co-invests alongside a range of investors, including Ag tech venture capitalists, philanthropies and foundations. The Syngenta Ventures portfolio currently includes 24 companies.
