Applications now open for 2025 cohort
Alexandria, VA (February 12, 2025) – Horticulture is more than just science — it’s an art, a language, and a mathematical wonder. Seed Your Future is proud to open applications for the 2025 Seed to STEM program that will take place in Chicago, IL. Now welcoming math, art, and English teachers to join a groundbreaking initiative that integrates horticulture into diverse subjects, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and environmental awareness in the classroom.
This expansion broadens the program’s impact, integrating horticulture concepts across multiple disciplines to inspire the next generation of green-collar professionals.
Seed to STEM is equipping high school educators with hands-on experiences, industry connections, and classroom-ready resources to introduce students to careers in horticulture. With the growing demand for creative, cross-disciplinary approaches to STEM education, this year’s program will highlight how math, art, and English can be powerful entry points into the world of plants.
“By opening Seed to STEM to teachers beyond traditional science fields, we’re demonstrating how horticulture intersects with creativity, communication, and problem-solving,” said Jazmin Albarran, Executive Director of Seed Your Future. “Whether it’s the geometry of plant structures, the artistic expression of floral design, or storytelling through nature writing, every subject has a role to play in cultivating the next generation of horticulture professionals.”
The 2025 Seed to STEM program includes:
- Professional Development Workshops – Virtual and in-person training with horticulture experts.
- Industry Immersion – Site visits to leading green industry businesses in Chicago.
