Indianapolis, IN (December 31, 2024) - Industry leaders gathered in Indianapolis, IN November 12-13 for the annual Corn Belt Seed Conference.
With the support of industry sponsors, the Indiana Crop Improvement Association (ICIA)-hosted event provided the opportunity for seed industry professionals to gain insightful updates on crop diseases, discover data on consumer preferences in the food chain, and how to enhance autonomy and effectiveness in the workplace through leadership.
In addition, ICIA held a special dinner event on Wednesday, November 13 to honor ICIA's Past Presidents and Managers. This special event, held every three years, is sponsored by Beck's Hybrids, and brings together current and past leadership from ICIA's Board of Directors, management, and current ICIA staff.
Distinguished Service

ICIA was honored to have Alan Galbreth, ICIA Executive Director 2011-2019, present Larry Svajgr with the Distinguished Service Award during this year's Past Presidents event.
Svajgr served as Executive Director of Indiana Crop Improvement from 1974-2011, lending expertise in numerous capacities throughout his career to the growth of Indiana's seed industry.
In receiving the honor, Svajgr recognized the support of ICIA's staff, board of directors, and industry leadership as contributors to his success, stating "the Indiana seed industry has always been an innovative leader in many ways, and it was a pleasure to serve Indiana Crop Improvement."
ICIA Crops and Soils Merit Award

Ben Kaehler was awarded the 2024 ICIA Crops & Soils Merit Award.
This award recognizes an individual for their outstanding contributions to agriculture. Chuck Schneider presented the award at the Corn Belt Seed Conference, sharing highlights of Kaehler's career and contributions to agriculture. Kaehler retired in March 2024 as VP National Accounts following 38 years with Corteva Agriscience and Dow Agrosciences, and served on numerous ICIA committees throughout his career, serving as ICIA President in 2010.
Dr. Jianxin Ma, Purdue University was also awarded the ICIA Crops & Soils Merit Award during the Corn Belt Seed Conference; however, he was unable to attend.
