Boulder A.G. with their partner is building a “human powered” hand crank small batch screen cleaner with adjustable air.

President Kevin Kidwell says the Model HHG 129 “Helping Hand” is a compact air screener for seed, grain, and any commodity that could benefit from the traditional screen cleaning process.

He notes the HHG 129 is designed for off-grid applications. The target market is for developing countries, as well as customers “off the grid or who want an economically priced portable unit that will fill a niche between an office unit and a small production machine.”

“I personally search for the best solutions for Boulder A.G. to offer,” Kidwell says. “We are determined to help our customers thrive and improve their operating costs by offering the best fit/best priced solutions.”

Kidwell explains the HHG 129 uses two 25” x 16 1/2” screens, with a total screening area of 412 sq. inches. One top screen is for scalp separation and one lower screen is for sifting. The screens are easily changed. Over 150 different sizes of perforated metal or wire cloth screens are available.

“Every part of the machine is designed to be as robust yet as affordable as possible,” Kidwell says. “Attention was given to keeping friction as low as possible to make hand cranking easier. The hangers and pitman arm are made from oak utilizing standard needle bearings to reduce friction. The sifting shoe, screens, eccentric shaft, and fan are all driven with a chain and sprocket to keep friction at a minimum.”
