ISF at WTO 9th Global Review of Aid for Trade

Geneva, Switzerland (July 2, 2024) — At the 9th Global Review of Aid for Trade of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Seed Federation (ISF) organized a session titled “Innovating for Food Security: The Role of Digital Connectivity,” which explored the intersection of innovation, digital connectivity and food security together with representatives from the WTO Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF), the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation (GATF), the North American Export Grain Association, Trade Mark Africa, and the National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO) of Madagascar.

ISF Phytosanitary Affairs Manager Rose Souza-Richards delivered the keynote address and moderated the session, which was held on 27 June 2024 at the WTO premises. Discussions emphasized how innovative digital solutions can address food security challenges and contribute to sustainable agricultural practices. Panelists underscored the importance of collaboration between industry, local communities, and governments to implement innovations to improve food security.

Other speakers were Simon Padilla, Economic Affairs Officer of STDF; Macarena T. Rossel, Deputy Director of the GATF; Erick Sirali, Director of Digital Trade of Trade Mark Africa; Craig Fedchock, Senior Advisor of the North American Export Grain Association; and Saholy Ramilijaona, Director of Plant Protection of Madagascar.
